About the Creative Director for Video and Storytelling:

FATV is looking for an inspiring, innovative, and organized Creative Director for Video and Storytelling who approaches every assignment with a desire to wow clients. A successful applicant will be a passionate hands-on individual who is conceptual, strategic, collaborative, and goal driven, and who can also harmoniously lead a team. This role primarily guides the video production process. The Director is also expected to contribute creative thinking, and be willing to tackling projects in addition to assigning them, as well as cover tertiary duties such as handling FATV’s social media strategy.

Given that FATV is a content provider that has been focused on video, the ideal candidate has experience in a producer or creative role with video for a mid-sized company. In addition, since FATV is mindful of accessibility of its content for students with disabilities, the ideal Director has comfortability working within Accessibility guidelines and their limitations.

The Director reports to the CEO and sets forth the direction and vision for the Creative Team, creating and training teammates on new processes, reviewing and improving the work of each teammate, and building a healthy team spirit around clearly defined team goals.

The Creative Director for Video and Storytelling works hand-in-hand with members of FATV’s Content, Client Relations, Tech, and Sales Teams, as well as external contractors, to ensure that FATV enhances and develops new content for our growing line of products. This position manages all the day-to-day video production operations along with creative inspiration.

A deep understanding of online video production is critical to the Director’s success. As well, since this role requires team collaboration, it is important that the Director possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to successfully manage, brainstorm, and collaborate with others. A successful candidate will be able to be a “do-er” in addition to being a manager, and will also be able to foster a healthy environment for constructive feedback.

Finally, since this role often requires managing multiple projects concurrently, the Director must be excellent at organizing tasks and workflows. This full-time job currently blends time 2-3 days spent in the FATV office in Boulder with time spent working from a home office.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Manages a collaborative creative process from concept to completion
Translates product objectives into clear creative strategies
Plans, schedules, and completes design and production requirements
Build a culture of creative thinking and innovation with internal teams
Articulates and defends strategic thinking and creative direction to internal and external stakeholders
Creates ideas that can become scalable executions
Implements and enhances FATV’s social media strategy
Ensure brand and style consistency and to use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ visual understanding of content
Directs, motivates, troubleshoots, and provides feedback to Creative Team
Collaborating with teammates from other FATV teams and contractors as needed
Provide specific video production instructions that help the Creative Team to provide creative and stylistic vision to facilitate timelier project completion and fewer creative revisions
Track content expenses and help project production schedules
Stay up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to draw audience’s attention
Ensures all content developed meets Accessibility standards

Qualifications:
Preferred BA or BS in Advertising, Fine Arts, Design, or related field
Proven experience as a creative director, associate creative director, or in a similar creative role
Eight or more years’ years of hand-ons experience in creative process, marketing, graphic design, and/or video production
Expert knowledge of software of Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Experience with After Effects, Motion, Whiteboarding, and/or 3D software or related software is a plus
Demonstrated ability to clearly explain technical information, concepts and instructions to others
An understanding of cross-platform work and deliverables, knowing how work will translate across video and digital
Exhibits broad understanding of traditional and emerging technologies
Ability to multi-task and re-assess competing priorities
Experience managing others
Experience working in a team environment
Experience working from a home office is a plus.
Experience building and strengthening relationships.
Detailed, organized and efficient with the ability to self-­‐manage.
