Executive Director Position Overview

Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) in Longmont, CO is looking for a strategic leader to leverage the strengths and assets of the organization to its next level of relevance and impact. This leader will be an experienced and engaged manager who is personally motivated by our mission. Together with a strong internal team, dedicated Board, and dozens of volunteers, our new Executive Director will lead the team to greater impact.

The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure that CHR continues to be a thriving organization and industry leader dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the horses and people in our community. Specifically, this position will ensure that CHR’s fundraising, fiscal, operations, marketing, education, communication, and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented across the organization. It also includes motivating and supervising staff members and a large volunteer community and creating a positive work environment that encourages open communication, creativity and personal growth. In leading the team, the Executive Director is responsible for the well-being of our horses.

• Fund Development for a small nonprofit
• Planning and Oversight of the vision, mission and direction of the organization
• Marketing and Public Relations with a variety of stakeholders
• Operations and Personnel to professionally run the day-to-day business including fiscal oversight, processes, HR, reporting, regulations, risk management, and safety

A passion for the mission of CHR is required. Knowledge of equine or animal welfare industry is desirable.
