Glacier has been hand mixing fruit and nuts, homemade chocolate and fudge, delectable spice combinations and loads more all-natural ingredients to make the best ice cream in America since 2001. More than 800 flavors have been created to date, with new ones rolling out about every two weeks. “We always do new flavors,” says owner Mark Mallen with a laugh, citing ice cream makers, employees and customer suggestions as the most typical sources for flavor ideas. His current favorites are sea salt dulce de leche gelato and raspberry chocolate ice cream, but the Colorado peach and apricot sorbets seem to be the most popular with patrons. Glacier has recently expanded its operations, opening new stores in Louisville and Colorado Springs. Mallen credits his crew for the growth: “My staff is fantastic. They’re the reason for our success … they’ve helped create an inviting and fun environment. I’ve also got great ice cream makers that work really hard and have put in a lot of extra effort this year because we’ve been so busy.” The dedication shows in every cone, cup and shake.
